Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Matthew 1:23
Hebrews 13:8
Ecclesiastes 1:2 ( Read Chapter!)
Proverbs 3:6
I think time should be took out to read the chapters of each scripture. People lack the understanding that our sin becomes the weight that besets us. Besets means to assail on all sides, box, or a persistent problem or difficulty. Our sin and choices come with a spiritual weight that leaks into all areas of our life if we allow it to. If we take the time to examine how sin may have added extra weight in our life, then we can start understanding why God has ordained for us to try our best to pursue things in which are pure. So, we can let some of that unnecessary weight go.
I think that it is important to note that Jesus was not conceived from lust at all but purely from love. That shows the important spiritual connection of sex. Joseph was not allowed to have sex with Mary during her pregnancy. Anywhere in the bible, the things that had God's spirit, was instructed to be treated with the upmost caution and care. Hebrews 13:8 says "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever." That is a comfort that, even if everything and everyone around you is shaky or not for certain, you can keep faith in the steadiness of Jesus.
Ecclesiastes 1:2 says " Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity." Reading the chapter is important for more understanding of this scripture. Vanity in this manner is used to describe the excessive pride in the pointlessness of human behavior. "All is vanity." I think this scripture is meant to humble everyone in the way that reminds us that we all lack true understanding when it comes to what is all meaningful for us to do. Pursue things that are pure, seek God's guidance, and stay humble is the message for today.
